										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Business restrictive measures, HSE spot checks and inspections, social distancing and public concern all play a part in why it&#8217;s so important to ensure your premises are COVID-19 safe and thus this means that expectations of the cleaning sector are higher than ever.</p>
<p>To maintain the highest level of customer confidence in USS and the services we provide, all of our operatives have received training in COVID-19 safe cleaning which includes:-</p>
<ul>
<li>Anti-viral cleaning</li>
<li>Deep cleaning</li>
<li>Kitchen &amp; washroom cleaning</li>
<li>Dust control</li>
<li>Damp cleaning</li>
<li>Floor and vacuum cleaning</li>
<li>Scrubber drying</li>
<li>Glass cleaning</li>
</ul>
<p>COVID-19 specific risk assessments are carried out prior to any works commencing too in addition to all other necessary risk assessments.</p>
<p>We are also advising our customers in line with the British Institute of Cleaning Science&#8217;s (BISCs) guidelines that if a COVID outbreak occurs the premises should be vacated for at least 3 days where possible before our operatives enter to carry out any cleaning and if no outbreak has occurred it is still important to increase the frequency of the normal cleaning routine paying particularly extra attention to touch point and sanitary ware and to have deep cleaning and anti-viral fogging carried out on a periodic basis.</p>

<p>Here is our suggested 3 step approach:-</p>

<li>Return safely &#8211; ensure your premises are deep cleaned prior to opening or as soon after opening as possible</li>
<li>High touch disinfection &#8211; ensure you have a frequent cleaning program in place so that high touch points such as door handles, light switches etc. are regularly cleaned</li>
<li>Anti-viral cleaning &#8211; use an anti-viral fogging service periodically which will not only disinfect the regularly cleaned areas but also provide broader disinfecting to those harder to reach areas helping to protect against COVID-19</li>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Recent reports show that net profit in the cleaning sector is as low as 2.7%, a substantial decrease from the industry norm of 4%, two years ago the norm for facility management companies was 7%.</p>
<p>Increase in wage costs, the introduction of auto enrolment pension and the rising cost of materials have all contributed to the downward trend in profit along with fixed price tendering at the beginning of 3 to 5 year contracts.</p>
<p>At first, this might seem good value for money to the customer but the reality is of course margins are squeezed and standards are compromised.</p>
<p>When seeking a cleaning provider, take into consideration the full breakdown of what is included in your costs and understand that cheapest doesn&#8217;t always necessarily mean it is the best option available and that is why here at USS, we offer a fair, easy to understand, detailed pricing schedule to our customers and for contracts that exceed a period of 12 months we take into consideration future increases in wages, pension contributions and materials etc.</p>
<p>In addition to this, cleaning providers with lower margins are in a lesser position to offer wages in excess of minimum wage, staff benefits and incentives to their operatives meaning that they have a higher turnover of staff which impacts on the delivery of service to their customers.</p>

<p>Alioune Badara Niang who joined USS in September as a Cleaning Operative and is still within his probationary period was recognised for his dedication and professionalism at the hotel where he works and he received a certificate and monetary reward.</p>
<p>Hotel management said about Alioune, &#8220;Your support and positive attitude really reflects within the team and we really appreciate everything you do for the guests and the hotel.&#8221;</p>
